The latest edition of the Information Governance Toolkit Guide for general medical practices in Wales has been published.

Among the changes for ‘Information Governance Toolkit for GMPs – 2017’ are the ability to populate the IG Toolkit into the Quality and Outcomes Framework, Guidance for the GMS Contract Wales 2017/18.

In addition, “the ‘Requirements’ have been updated in many areas to provide guidance on how the imminent General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) will impact the assessment topic. Where appropriate they also include useful notes regarding the Cluster Networks and indicate potential risks if certain obligations are not met.”

Public Health Wales said that the 2017 edition of the IG Toolkit has a completion date of  December 31 2017, allowing time to feed into the Clinical Governance Toolkit, which will close in March 2018.

In addition, “a new website is currently in development which we anticipate will go live towards the end of the year. In the meantime, the current website will continue to be updated with further IG Resources as they are published/developed.”
