Details of GP arrangements to succeed the CSC local service provider contract when it ends next year have been issued.

The expiry of the CSC LSP contract on July 7 2016 will affect GP practices using the SystemOne clinical IT system. After that date these GP services will need to move to the GP Systems of Choice (GPSoC) framework.

In a letter to clinical commissioning groups, the Health and Social Care Information Centre says that GP practices will have a wider choice of IT systems. The letter then sets out required actions needed ahead of the transition.

CCGs will complete a full Principal Clinical System selection process and a reduced selection process for the relevant SystemOne Subsidiary modules in use by each GP practice. This will help inform the selection of the “most suitable Principal Clinical System available under GPSoC Lot 1.” It may be that a GP practice remains with SystemOne, but there is guidance on how to order other systems if the selection process indicates a transfer from SystemOne.

Once alerted to the selection process outcome, HSCIS will contact the CCG to organise the transition arrangements process. “Once a date for transition/deployment has been agreed with the supplier and HSCIC, CCGs should place orders on the tracking database and sign a local call off agreement with each chosen supplier,” says HSCIC.

Orders will only be able to be placed in the first three months of 2016, and GP practices will need to sign the CCG practice agreement, along with the CCG, before March 31 2016.

Before then, CCGs are asked to confirm the details of their GP IT lead and to formally notify affected GP practices about the letter. CCGs will be asked to verify HSCIC’s lists of GP practices that will need to transition due to holding TPP SystemOne GP, and those GP practices that have merged or closed and which will not need to transition.
