Public Health England has issued updated and new patient group direction templates for providing human papilloma virus vaccinations.

A new PGD template is now available which supports the administration of HPV vaccine to men who have sex with men (MSM). Patients must be men aged 45 years or under who attend Specialist Sexual Health Services (SSHS) and/or HIV clinics. The PGD is valid from 1 April 2018 to 31 March 2020.

The PGD for HPV vaccination for adolescent girls has been renewed, making it valid from May 1 2018 to April 30 2020. It supports the administration of HPV vaccine to girls from 12 years of age or from school year 8 in accordance with the national immunisation programme.

PHE warns that practitioners must not use a PGD template until it has been authorised in Section 2, in compliance with the Human Medicines Regulations 2012.
