A Resized Recall Image cb1November 27 2017

A Class 2 drugs recall for batches of Lipitor 80mg and of generic atorvastatin 80mg under the Almus livery has been issued.

The MHRA’s alert says: “Pfizer is recalling the above batches as a precaution due to an out of specification result for microbiological testing during routine stability studies on a batch of the product which was not released to the market.”

The batches in the recall “were identified as being potentially affected by the same issue during the root cause investigation, although no out of specification microbiological results have been reported for these batches.”

The three batches involved – T43166 and T43170 (Lipitor) and T43157 (Almus) – with pack sizes each of 28 film-coated tablets, have been distributed from August 30 onwards, and all have expiry date of January 31 2020.

Medical information enquiries should be directed to Pfizer Medical Information on 01304 616161. Stock enquires should be directed to the local branch of Alliance Healthcare.
