The MHRA has extended the Class 1 medicines recalled issued on July 5 on valsartan to include valsartan/hydrochlorothiazide 160/12.5mg film-coated tablets from Actavis.

The initial recall was for all valsartan products made by Actavis Group PTC (now Accord) and Dexcel Pharma:

  • the three strengths of valsartan (40mg, 80mg and 160mg) hard capsules from Dexcel Pharma.
  • the four strengths of valsartan (40mg, 80mg, 160mg and 320mg) film-coated tablets from Actavis Group.

The updated Class 1 recall was issued on July 10 at 17.15 hours to add the combination product.
