Dettol television campaign targets cold and flu
January 12 2015
The second stage of a £1.6 million Dettol education campaign promoting the importance of healthy habits to avoid cold and flu is launching.
Running until the end of February, the television advertising part of the Dettol campaign follows on from the initial digital activation stage which began in November.
The campaign also includes practical information leaflets which can be downloaded from the Dettol website. These “provide consumers with information and advice on ways to minimise the spread of winter viruses, promoting tips to help keep their homes healthy.”
The three main messages of the campaign are:
• Wash – wash hands regularly with antibacterial soap or hand wash to remove viruses
• Spray – spray surfaces that people often touch with their hands like door handles, taps and kitchen surfaces with an antibacterial spray to remove 99.9% of bacteria and viruses.
• Wipe Away – wipe away using a clean cloth or antibacterial disposable wipe, to help prevent spreading bacteria or viruses which build up on kitchen cloths.
“The key message echoes that of NHS Choices which recommends regular hand washing to remove viruses picked up on doorknobs, handles and buttons,” says RB.
