OmeprazoleDecember 16 2015

A medical safety alert recalling four batches of Zentiva’s omeprazole 20mg gastro-resistant hard capsules has been issued.

The affected batches are:

Batch Number Expiry date Pack Size First distributed
5ZR2190D Mar 2017 1 x 28 7 Sep 2015
5ZR2191C Mar 2017 1 x 28 2 Oct 2015
5ZR2190E Apr 2017 1 x 28 8 Sep 2015
5ZR2512C Apr 2017 1 x 28 12 Oct 2015

A problem with the capsule shells being more brittle than usual has led to the recall. There are concerns that the capsule shell may break when being removed from blister packaging.

Pharmacists should quarantine any remaining stock and return the items to the original wholesaler for credit.
