Pfizer launches New Medicine Service toolkit
June 20 2016
A new toolkit has been launched to help pharmacists optimise care to people with long term conditions under the New Medicine Services (NMS).
It includes suggestions and advice on how to deliver the service and maximise the value to patients. It also includes communications materials designed to help pharmacy teams explain NMS to patients and other healthcare professionals.
Aspects included in the toolkit are:
• an overview
• what the NMS can actually achieve
• a summary of the NMA
• ‘Are you starting a new medicine?’ for patient interactions.
Pfizer’s NMS Toolkit has been developed in direct response to feedback and requests from Pfizer’s community pharmacy customers. It has been endorsed by Pharmacy Voice and the Royal Pharmaceutical Society
Pharmacy Voice Chief Executive Rob Darracott said: “With the challenges currently facing the community pharmacy sector, providing practical support and assistance to frontline pharmacy teams has never been more important.
“After five years, the New Medicines Service is now a central part of community pharmacists’ daily work supporting medicines optimisation, patient safety and person-centred care. This new toolkit will help build confidence in those who are new to delivering the services while offering more experienced pharmacists a chance to take a look at their service from a fresh approach.”
Pharmacy Voice has previously the ‘Right Route: Right Care’ campaign launched as part of Pfizer’s Health Partnerships programme.
