Members of the public will be able to find their nearest Healthy Living Pharmacy using a new online register.

Set up by the Royal Society of Public Health, it means patients can search for level 1 HLPs by region. It lists those pharmacies that have successfully completed the profession-led self-assessment process, as commissioned by Public Health England.

The RPSH says it has made the register publicly available with the purpose of:

  • showcasing pharmacies that have achieved Level 1 status through the profession-led self-assessment process
  • fostering development efforts led by Local Authorities, Local Pharmaceutical Committees (LPCs) and other stakeholders
  • providing the public, Local Authorities, LPCs and other stakeholders with a mechanism to identify and access the local HLP offer.

While the RSPH will collate information about new HLPs on a daily basis, it will only update its register during the last week of each month.

PSNC has pointed out that “the register currently only includes community pharmacies who have agreed to have their details included on the online register and those not previously locally accredited as an HLP; pharmacies who had previously been accredited locally as an HLP, are not required to register with RSPH as part of the process to meet the HLP quality criterion of the Quality Payments Scheme.”
