The legislative changes needed to permit this season’s pharmacy flu vaccination service to commence in England have been made.

Secretary of State Directions have been issued, which PSNC has posted by on its website. The Directions mean that community pharmacy contractors fully meeting the requirements for provision of the Community Pharmacy Seasonal Influenza Vaccination Advanced Service now have the go-ahead to provide the service from September 1 2017, said PSNC.

Alastair Buxton, Director of NHS Services at PSNC, commented: “The completion of the regulatory changes means community pharmacy teams can now start offering the NHS Flu Vaccination Service to eligible patients from September 1. I hope that pharmacy teams will really get behind this important service, like they did last year, to show patients and the NHS just what community pharmacy is capable of.”
