Mark Lyonette 2February 9 2018

The National Pharmacy Association has announced Mark Lyonette will be its new chief executive from June.

Mr Lyonette will be joining the NPA from the Association of British Credit Unions Ltd, where he has worked for the past 20 years, the last 13 as its chief executive.

NPA chairman Ian Strachan said: “Mark brings with him a great deal of experience of running trade associations, membership bodies and leading a complex, regulated sector through change. The NPA Board has asked him to further develop the capabilities and performance of the NPA in order to help transform the prospects of the pharmacy sector. We therefore look forward eagerly to his arrival in June.”

A statement put out by the ABCUL said that Mr Lyonette had been with them during “a period of rapid growth and development for the credit union sector with membership having more than quadrupled and assets under management growing by almost 900%.” He had also helped ABCUL “develop into a high-profile organisation and a leading voice on issues such as financial inclusion and banking and payments reform.”

Mark Lyonette said: “I am delighted to be joining the NPA later this year. It is an honour to have the opportunity to serve the thousands of independent community pharmacies who rely on the NPA to provide essential services, a strong voice and a vehicle for collective progress. I am looking forward to working with the board and the executive team to strengthen the NPA, and develop this vital service for its members.”
