Community pharmacies in Scotland are being asked to complete this year’s Community Pharmacy Workforce Survey.

The survey is intended to provide a snapshot of the community pharmacy workforce, said Community Pharmacy Scotland. It will include:

  • pharmacists (plus those working centrally if appropriate)
  • pre-registration trainee pharmacists
  • pharmacy technicians including trainees
  • pharmacy support staff

during the week commencing Monday 19th to Sunday 25th February 2018.

CPS is running the survey with NES Scotland to gain a better understanding of staff numbers and skill mix within community pharmacy in Scotland. “The information obtained will be analysed and will help to inform pharmacy workforce strategy planning and development, ensuring we have the right workforce in place now and can take action to ensure that demand is met in the future,” said CPS

“The data for independent community pharmacies will be gathered locally within each Board area by Community Pharmacy Champions or Health Board staff. You may get a visit in person, receive a telephone call or be asked to fill out and return documentation yourself – each of these methods should only take a couple of minutes, and we would appreciate you taking the time to help us understand the community pharmacy network better.”

The Company Chemists’ Association (CCA) will provide data centrally for their Scottish community pharmacy members.
