PSNC has posted online a 60-minute recording of its webinar on the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). In addition, Community Pharmacy Scotland has uploaded a GDPR pack on its website.

More than 600 people participated in PSNC’s recent live GDPR webinars in which Gordon Hockey, PSNC Director of Operations and Support, explained what the GDPR means for the average pharmacy business. He also outlined steps pharmacy contractors will need to take to comply with GDPR, and discussed the templates that PSNC has developed as part of the cross-sector GDPR working group.

Mr Hockey has also written an article on GDPR which has been posted on the PSNC website.

The GDPR pack on the CPS website is in four parts:

  • Guidance – Full background information
  • Summary Guidance – A handy quick reference guide
  • Workbook – By working through this, you will be able to demonstrate compliance
  • FAQs

The information is derived from the UK GDPR Working Group’s source material, and has been adapted and added to for use in Scotland.

“These are very much live documents, and we will update them as we receive feedback from you and as we continue to learn about GDPR in practice,” said CPS.

The GDPR comes into effect on May 25.
