Pharmacy contractors need to ensure they update their Pharmacy Earlier Payment Scheme (PEPS) agreement by May 31 as the provider is changing.

PSNC has announced that PEPS, which is managed by NHS Business Services Authority (NHSBSA), has been awarded to a new provider, Taulia. This will take over from Citibank with effect from July 1 with payments relating to June 2018 prescriptions.

“To continue receiving earlier payments in July, existing PEPS contractors have until the 31st May 2018 to opt in to the Scheme offered by Taulia,” said PSNC. “Initially, Taulia will only be offering an automatic financing option but will work with the NHSBSA to provide a manual financing option in the near future.”

Pharmacy contractors who use PEPS should have been notified about the change of provider, but will have to supply banking details to Taulia for a payment to be made on July 1.

For contractors who have not opted into PEPS, NHSBSA will continue to make payments as usual, but contractors can opt in to the scheme but contacting NHSBSA, said PSNC.

Further details are given in the PSNC announcement.
