Community Pharmacy Scotland is advising pharmacy contractors that a new system will be introduced for the seasonal influenza vaccination programme this year.

The changes being introduced by the Scottish Government have seen tenders being issued relating to the procurement and distribution of the vaccines, and how doctors should go about obtaining them.

CPS said that it “is disappointed that in spite of our strong representations on the value that community pharmacy involvement brings the Government has chosen to introduce a new and untested system.” It is advising pharmacy contractors with any queries about the new arrangements to contact the flu vaccine co-ordinator at their local NHS Board.

CPS has also updated its list of adjusted prices for the February Drug Tariff, with the following amendments:

  • pioglitazone 15mg tablets - 28s - £25.83
  • pioglitazone 30mg tablets - 28 - £35.89
  • pioglitazone 45mg tablets - 28 - £39.55
  • trazodone 50mg capsules - 84 - £37.20
  • trazodone 100mg capsules - 56 - £43.05
  • trazodone 150mg tablets - 28 - £32.00
  • trazodone 50mg/5ml SF liquid - 120ml - £160.00
