Funding for pharmacist supplementary and independent prescribing clinics has been renewed for 2016-17 at the same level as for last year.

A circular, PCA (P) (2016) 6, dated May 4, says that the existing arrangements have been rolled forward from April 1, and the allocations for NHS Boards remain at the same levels as in 2015-16. Total funding allocated is £1 million.

“Clinics should continue to be targeted in accordance with guidance for prior year(s),” said Scotland’s Chief Pharmaceutical Officer, Rose Marie Parr. “While budgets for the 2017-18 financial year have not yet been set, it is anticipated that, subject to approval of budgets, this funding will be continued for 2017-18 followed by a review of Supplementary and Independent Prescribing Clinics funding to determine future arrangements.”
