Drug Tariff updates include continuation of discount clawback scale

The discount clawback scale applied to prices listed in Part 11 of the Drug Tariff for Scotland will continue at 6.97%.
An NHS Circular, PCA (P) (2015) 30, issued on December 22, says that ongoing data validation of the July 2015 Quarterly Discount Survey means that the discount clawback level that was reset in September at 6.97% will continue for dispensings from December 1 2015 onwards. A further review of the discount clawback scale will be conducted in February 2016.
Community Pharmacy Scotland has updated the adjusted prices list for the Drug Tariff, with effect from January 1 as follows:
- diclofenac sodium 50mg tablets (E/C) - 28s - 260p
- ferrous sulphate 200mg tablets - 28s - 285p
- lercanidipine 10mg tablets - 28s - 570p
- mefenamic acid 500mg tablets - 28s - 1215p
For England and Wales, NHS Business Services Authority announced amendments to the December Drug Tariff Part VIIIA as follows:
- trazodone 50mg capsules £25.04
- trazodone 100mg capsules £28.14
In addition: “Nebido 1000mg/4ml solution for injection vials/testosterone undecanoate 1g/4ml solution for injection vials have been included in the ‘Drugs for which discount is not deducted’ list with effect from December 1 2015, but this will not be reflected in the Drug Tariff until the January 2016 edition. Reimbursement will not be affected.”
