A number of calls have gone out seeking nominations for elections and appointments to pharmacy organisations.

The Royal Pharmaceutical Society has announced that nominations for the National Pharmacy Boards can be made until April 1.

In the 2016 National Pharmacy Board elections, there are:

  • five non-sectoral vacancies on the English Pharmacy Board,
  • three non-sectoral places on the Scottish Pharmacy Board,
  • two community places, one vacancy for any eligible member, and one casual vacancy on the Welsh Pharmacy Board.

“Serving on a National Pharmacy Board will enable you to contribute directly to and influence the excellent work that they carry out,” said the RPS. “The Boards engage at the very highest levels in their respective nations and make significant contributions to the development of the profession.”

In Northern Ireland, the Department of Health, Social Services and Public Safety is inviting nominations to appoint six Council Members to the Pharmaceutical Society of Northern Ireland. Of the six vacancies to be appointed with effect from June 1, five are for registered persons and one is for a lay member.

PSNI’s Council ordinarily comprises 14 non-executive members, and no Council member is allowed to hold office for more than an aggregate of eight years in any twenty year period. The deadline for receipt of applications is noon on Friday March 18 2016.

Pharmacist Support, the independent occupational benevolent charity for pharmacists and their families, former pharmacists and pharmacy students, is looking to appoint two trustees.

“We are seeking two new trustees to join the Board from May 2016– one lay trustee with a financial management background, preferably with charity experience too, and one pharmacist trustee currently practising in one of the major sectors of pharmacy. Those new to the profession are currently under-represented on our board,” said the charity.

“Trustees determine the strategic vision and future direction of the charity and we are seeking people who are able to think creatively and who possess independent judgment and strong decision-making skills.”

Applications need to be submitted by 5pm on Friday March 18 2016
