Pharmacy teams are being encouraged to prepare for the forthcoming Pharmacy Winter campaign day activity on November 21.

The ‘Pharmacy Winter’ campaign aims to:

  • promote the roles that community pharmacy teams already play in helping people to stay healthy through winter and reducing pressure on other NHS services;
  • warn of the risks if any of these services are lost; and
  • highlight the many additional roles that community pharmacies could play in helping people and the NHS through the winter months.

To raise awareness, people can add a #pharmacywinter Twibbon to their social media accounts. They can also join in the Tweetchat being led by PSNC, and invite local councillors to visit their pharmacy.

PSNC is leading the campaign, with support from the Royal Pharmaceutical Society and other pharmacy organisations. Resources are available via the winter campaign hub at psnc.org.uk/wintercampaign.

“The day will offer a chance to renew media and political interest in community pharmacy, and community pharmacy teams will play a vital role in that. There are lots of ways to get involved, whether by adding a Twibbon to your social media account, joining our Tweetchat, or inviting a local councillor to visit your pharmacy,” said PSNC.

PSNC will be co-hosting a WePharmacists Twitterchat between 8-9pm on November 21 to mark the day. Details are available at: http://www.wecommunities.org/tweet-chats/chat-details/4084.

A reception for politicians will also take place at Westminster. “This will offer a chance for MPs to come and receive a medicines check as we move into winter, along with a short briefing on community pharmacy. LPCs are supporting this work by inviting their local MPs and, in some cases, sending representatives to the event,” said PSNC.
