A new e-course on mental health will commence online on January 8, the Centre for Pharmacy Postgraduate Education has announced.

The eight-week course covers a range of mental illnesses and aims to enhance pharmacists’ knowledge and skills to support people with mental illness. Conditions that will be covered in the course are:

  • depression;
  • anxiety disorders;
  • sleep disorders;
  • bipolar disorder;
  • schizophrenia;
  • dementia.

It will also consider mental illness in older people and children and young adults.

There is an expected time commitment of five to six hours each week, and pharmacists will be set a series of activities to put learning into practice. As this is a live course there will be opportunities to take part in discussion forums with colleagues, said CPPE.

A leaflet can be downloaded with details of the schedule and how to enrol for the course.
