British Lung Foundation issues pharmacy resources
February 20 2018
Two new guides supporting the role of community pharmacists in helping patients with respiratory conditions have been published by the British Lung Foundation.
The first is designed around asking patients the right questions to support their understanding of their condition and medicine management, and to help pharmacists deliver healthy lifestyle messages.
The second is a consultation guide providing a structure for respiratory Medicines Use Reviews for COPD and asthma patients. “This consultation guide aims to support you whilst undertaking a MUR with a respiratory patient to help you ask the right questions and deliver clear messages to support better medicines understanding and healthy life style messages,” says the BLF.
Publicising the resources, PSNC said the MUR guide “follows a format similar to the PSNC MUR worksheet and enables the minimum MUR dataset to be collected.
“Community pharmacy teams are reminded that PSNC has a page which provides information about the support available from the BLF for people with lung conditions to aid community pharmacy teams with signposting patients to relevant sources of information, and to also highlight to pharmacy teams about how to become a BLF Professional.”
