FIP-WebinarFebruary 9 2015

Pharmacists will be able to join four webinars covering maternal, newborn and child health (MNCH) over the next few weeks.

Organised by the International Pharmacy Federation, the webinars will run as follows:

1.    February 18 - 10 am - 11am GMT - Background of maternal, newborn and child health
2.    February 25 - 10 am - 11am GMT - Pregnancy and birth stage health
3.    March 4 - - 10 am - 11am GMT - Postnatal and infancy health
4.    March 11 - 10 am - 11am GMT - Childhood health.

Content for the webinars has been developed following the FIP council approving a reference paper and establishing a working group in 2011 to address how pharmacists contribute to the United Nation’s Millennium Development Goals.

“Maternal, newborn and child health is a pressing global health issue that has the potential to affect many generations in the future. Pharmacists have the knowledge, skills and vast opportunities around the world to play a role in facilitating or providing products and services that address these priorities,” says FIP.

“Evidence of the contribution of pharmacists in improving Maternal, Newborn and Child Health has been gathered in many countries. In this context, pharmacy education and the pharmacists’ scope of practice should enable pharmacists to support maternal and child health.”

The webinar series has been made possible by an educational grant from Teva.
