A number of events to increase understanding about the proposals for clinical pharmacists to work in general practice will take place in August.

Following the proposals in the GP Workforce 10 Point Plan to pilot clinical pharmacists working in GP practices, NHS England, the Royal Pharmaceutical Society and the Primary Care Pharmacists’ Association have organised webinars and workshops as follows:

  • August 12– 2-4pm – Pharmacists in GP surgeries webinar
  • August 20– 9.30am-1.30pm – Responding to the NHSE clinical pharmacists in General Practice Pilot Scheme (PCPA event), Leeds
  • August 26– 1-2pm – Pharmacists in GP surgeries webinar
  • September 2– tbc – Health and Care Innovation Expo 2015, slot at NHS England exhibition stand

The events are being held to increase understanding around the role, the application process and how to make a good application. They are also an opportunity to have questions answered by a live panel.

The pilot scheme was announced on July 7 and will introduce around 250 clinical pharmacists into general practices. Individual and groups of GP practices can bid for funding as part of the £15 million pilot, with applications being submitted to NHS England in the period September 11-17.

While the webinars are free, places should be booked via the events listings on NHS England (link below).
