An interactive PDF on how to use the British National Formulary is now available from the Centre for Pharmacy Postgraduate Education.

Issued in collaboration with BNF Publications, the ‘How to use the BNF’ guidance looks at the changes to the structure of the BNF website introduced over the past few months, the new BNF app and the latest edition, BNF 70.

“This interactive programme uses case studies to explore the key changes made to the BNF in each of its formats and to highlight how content is arranged within print and digital products,” said the CPPE. It estimates it takes about 90 minutes to complete.

CPPE has also launched ‘Sexual health in pharmacies’, a new e-learning programme which replaces the ‘Sexual health in pharmacies: developing your service’ distance learning programme. It is recommended as suggested learning for the sexual health, contraception and emergency contraception Declarations of Competence.

The e-learning programme examines what drives sexual health commissioning, guidelines that relate to a sexual health service, and how to create the right environment within a pharmacy for welcoming patients and providing a confidential and non-judgemental sexual health consultation, said CPPE.

Section 2 of the programme covers the consultation itself, counselling points and advice on safer sex. There is also an emphasis on staff training and a separate workbook for all staff to complete.
