Quantum Pharmaceutical introduces new ordering system for Specials
August 18 2017
Quantum Pharmaceutical is updating its ordering system for Specials medicines to allow ordering directly from its website. The new online system will come into effect from September 1, and will email customers with an order confirmation.
The move follows the updating of its documentation to reflect a recent statement from the medicines regulator. The MHRA stated that, to protect patient safety, all orders for unlicensed products from Specials medicines manufacturers need to be in writing, “for example by email, fax or via an on line ordering system provided by the manufacturer.”
Quantum Pharmaceutical said: “As quality underpins everything we do at Quantum Pharmaceutical we have added additional ordering documentation to our website, which clearly defines the four different ordering channels available (phone, fax, email and online) and the steps to take for each to ensure full compliance.”
In cases where a customer has phoned the company to order a product, Quantum will issue an order statement by fax or email, which the customer is then required to sign and return to Quantum for the order to be processed.
Quantum has also flagged up updates to the latest versions of the Specials Drug Tariffs for England and Wales and for Scotland which came into effect from August 1.
Drug Tariff Part VIIIB changes for England and Wales include five deletions, three additions, meaning that 252 items are included in the Tariff. There were no changes to Part 7S in the Scottish Tariff, meaning 71 items are listed.
Quantum Pharmaceutical said: “We have incorporated price and line updates into our processes to ensure all customer paperwork and endorsing information are accurate. All orders placed with Quantum Pharmaceutical from August 1 2017 will include the relevant changes.”
The next tariff update is due on November 1.
