Drug TariffNovember 2 2015

The Drug Tariff listings of specials and unlicensed products listed has been updated for November.

In Scotland, there have been two Specials Tariff Part 7S deletions, taking the total number of products listed to 75, says unlicensed medicines manufacturer Quantum Pharmaceutical. The next update of specials in Scotland is expected in the February 2016 Drug Tariff.

In England and Wales, 13 new additions and six deletions have been made to Part VIIIB of the Drug Tariff, says Quantum. This brings the list to 249 items.

PSNC has flagged up that there has been a change to the way chloral hydrate is listed to reflect BP nomenclature: chloral hydrate 500mg/5ml oral solution has replaced Chloral Hydrate 500mg/5ml Mixture BP.

In addition, PSNC has advised that lisinopril 2.5mg/5ml oral solution and suspension and lisinopril 5mg/5ml oral solution and suspension have been deleted from Part VIIIB because a licensed alternative, lisinopril 5mg/5ml oral solution sugar-free, has been added to Part VIIIA.

“Pharmacy staff are advised to take care in ensuring that any prescriptions dispensed in October are submitted promptly for payment with their October prescription bundle, to avoid the risk of items being reimbursed at the November Drug Tariff price, which may vary from those charged in October,” it advises.
